Damals in der DDR

Back in the GDR is a German ten -part documentary film series, which was in 2005 awarded the Adolf Grimme Prize. It was produced by MDR, WDR, and producer Gunnar Dedio the production company Looks Film & TV. The documentary films each show on a topic witnesses who report on life in the German Democratic Republic.

The theme song of the series is sung by Udo Lindenberg. On 28 July 2006, the documentaries also released as a DVD.
