Damm (Dummerstorf)

Dam is since 7 June 2009, a district of the municipality in the district of Dummerstorf Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ).

Geography

Dam is located about ten kilometers south of Rostock. The district stretches along the eastern shore of the lower Warnow along. The Warnowtal is reported together with the leading- west of Reez Zarnow as a nature reserve.

For the formerly independent municipality dam, since 2010, founded a town in the Dummerstorf in 2011 County Rostock ( LRO ) were among the major districts Viegeln, Small Viegeln and Reez.

History

Lived at the beginning of recorded time between Reez and Great Pond Press Viegeln on a Germanic tribe who, presumably, withdrew the Migration Period around 400 to the south. To 850 Slavic ethnic groups are mentioned in the Bavarian geographer, including the Warnower. This was divided into four groups: the Redarier, Toll Enser, Zirzipanen and Kessin.

Dam lies close to the junction Rostock (A 19 / A 20), the exit Kavelstorf is 2.5 kilometers away from the dam. In the near Kavelstorf consists rail connection ( between Rostock - Berlin).
