Dampfbahn Fränkische Schweiz

The steam train Franconian Switzerland eV (abbreviation: DFS ) is a since April 16, 1974 of existing, non-profit organization ( registered in the register of the Local Court Bamberg ) based in Ebermannstadt.

Association's objectives are:

  • Establishing, operating and maintaining a heritage railway on the former federal railroad Ebermannstadt - Behringersmühle in Wiesenttal
  • Acquisition and preservation of historic rail vehicles, in particular with respect to the branch line Ebermannstadt - Behringersmühle
  • Organization of lectures, tours, trips and exhibitions

Since 1980, the club also has a concession to operate a railway and has been a licensed railway transport and infrastructure companies. The DFS is the oldest museum railway franc.

Between May 1st and October 31st operate on all Sundays and public holidays the trains of the museum train runs regularly. For the museum operation, the DFS has a fleet of three steam locomotives, a Akkumulatorlokomotive, four diesel locomotives and diesel railcars as well as a number of historic coaches, especially Donnerbüchsen and conversion vans.
