Dampfbahn-Verein Zürcher Oberland

The Steam Train Society Zürcher Oberland ( DVZO ) is a Swiss, standard gauge heritage railway and a licensed railway transport companies. Its almost 12 km long main line is located in the Zurich Oberland.

Association

On June 1, 1969, the passenger traffic on the route was part of Hinwil after Bauma Uerikon Bauma -Bahn was supported by the Swiss Federal Railways ( SBB) and set a trial basis by a bus mode of transport companies Zürcher Oberland ( VZO ) replaced. The section between Hinwil and Bäretswil it was served only by freight trains.

Instant founded some railway enthusiasts the Steam Train Society, carried out with the aim of historical locomotives and cars train rides.

Since May 6, 1978, the association is between Hinwil and Bauma by scheduled train museum train rides.

The club has since the summer of 2000 owners of nearly 6 km long section Bauma - Bäretswil and since then a licensed railway transport companies. For the use of railway infrastructure in the network access of DVZO has the necessary permits, therefore trains may operate far from its regular route addition.

Trunk route

The main line is the portion of the 1968 disused, former section of the Uerikon - Bauma -Bahn by Bauma to Hinwil, wherein the distance Bauma - Bäretswil in 2000 was taken over for the symbolic price of one franc of the Swiss Federal Railways. The section Bäretswil - Hinwil still belongs to the SBB, which still offer here freight services. The DVZO have to pay a road charge ( infrastructure usage fee IBE) for this subregion.

The entire route is single track and electrified and can be driven by electric locomotives.

The journey begins in Bauma to 639.3 m above sea level This station was formerly part of the Tösstal train and since the nationalization of the Swiss Federal Railways.
