Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline

The Dampier - Bunbury gas pipeline (English: Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline ( DBNGP ) ) in Western Australia is 1530 km length of the longest gas pipeline in Australia and one of the longest in the world. With a pipe diameter of 660 mm, it also has the largest capacity of all Australian gas pipelines.

The pipeline extends from Withnell Bay on the Burrup Peninsula near Dampier to Bunbury in the South West of Western Australia. It provides liquefied natural gas from the North West Shelf. Approximately 135 km to the south of Dampier joins a pipeline from the Varanus Island in the DBNGP.

History

As the West Australian Petroleum Pty Ltd 1975 discovered the natural gas reserves of the North West Shelf, the idea with the Dampier - Bunbury gas pipeline in Western Australia was to be supplied with gas and 1979 it was configured. On August 16, 1984, the first gas flowed through the pipes. She was in state ownership and was sold to the libertarian deregulation ideas 1998 to the Epic Energy, a consortium of U.S. pipeline companies, which they sold at Dampier Bunbury Pipeline LTD again in 2004. This is made up of company shares of the DUET ( Diversified Utilities and Energy Trusts) together with ( 60 % share ), Alcoa ( 20 % share ) and Alinta ( 20 % share ).

Others

The capacity of the pipeline was initially 360 terajoules (equivalent to 11.52 million cubic meters of natural gas ) on the day and was established in 1991 to 450 terajoules (equivalent to 14.4 million m³ of natural gas ) is removed.

In June 2008, the DBNGP was used for this purpose, to maintain gas supplies to Western Australia after the gas liquefaction plants had failed for months by an explosion and fire at Varanus Island, which led to the gas crisis in Western Australia.

The DBNGP leads on the North West Coastal Highway along and crosses it at Yannrie River, east of the Kennedy Range National Park, it overcomes the Murchison River at Mulla Mulla and then turns south, where it crosses the Midland Road east of Dongara.
