Dance Chimes

A dance carillon is a musical instrument recordable with the feet. It consists of nine bronze floor tiles, which are provided with mechanical sound elements and recalls in his sound at a chime.

Description

The nine bronze floor tiles are arranged in a square and are usually anchored to the ground. The sounds are produced by a hammer mechanism inside which actuates the player by hopping, jumping or dancing on the tiles. The dance chime is tuned in pentatonic scale and it can be both single tones and melodies and chords are played on it. The sound is similar to a bell.

History

The dancing bells game was invented by Alfons van Leggelo in the 1970s and designed. It should bring the movement of walking directly with quality sound. The bronze instrument is similar in operation to the Carillon. Dance chimes were installed in many places around the world, including in HafenCity in Hamburg, the city lake in Bad Waldsee, the Maximilian Park in Hamm, on the Museumplein in Amsterdam and in schools for the mentally / physically disabled children.
