Daniel Anrig

Daniel Rudolf Anrig (born 10 July 1972 whales city) is the 34th and Colonel Commandant of the Pontifical Swiss Guard.

Life

Anrig is the youngest son of Mr and Mrs Rudolf Gustav Anrig from Sargans and Silvia Maria Benz born in Marbach SG. He has two siblings. Residential and Citizenship of the family since the 16th century Sargans. Daniel Anrig attended the elementary and the district school and graduated with the Matura. He served from 1992 to 1994 as Hellebardier in the Pontifical Swiss Guard. He then studied at the University of Fribourg Law ( civil and canon law). In 1999 he completed his studies with a master's in civil and canon law.

He was chief of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Canton of Glarus in 2002. Anrig 2003 was responsible for a controversial raid of the Glarus cantonal police for human and drug trafficking in a home for asylum seekers. Made after a display of Amnesty International investigation of disproportionate police action were set by the judge, because no criminal offense behavior was found. Anrig but had to pay part of the legal costs. In March 2006 he was promoted to commander of the Canton Police Department.

In the Swiss army Anrig holds the rank of captain. Daniel Anrig is married to the theologian Bernadett Rita born Bejczy and has four children. He is a member of the Catholic Student Association AKV Alemannia Fribourg in the Swiss Student Association.

Pope Benedict XVI. Daniel Anrig appointed on 19 August 2008 to the 34th Commander of the Pontifical Swiss Guard. He has assumed the position at the rank of colonel on 1 December 2008. He was honored by that for him in 2009 by Johann Schmidsberger its own armor was velvet helmet customized with his family coat of arms next to the papal coat of arms.
