Daniel Brown (politician)

Daniel T. Brown ( born 1945 in Knoxville, Tennessee ) is a city council of Knoxville. From 11 January to 17 December 2011, he was interim mayor of Knoxville.

Brown was born in Knoxville, earned a degree at Tennessee State University (Bachelor of Science in history ) and served in the Vietnam War. The now -retired postal worker was chosen as representative of the Sixth District in the City Council. He was appointed as interim successor to Bill Haslam, who since January 2011 Governor of Tennessee. At the mayoral election in autumn 2011 Brown joined not to. He handed over his office on December 17, the election winner Madeline Rogero, but remained in the city council.

Daniel T. Brown was the first African American mayor of Knoxville.
