Daniel Landa

Daniel Landa (born 4 November 1968, Prague) is a Czech singer and actor.

Life

Landa studied musical dramaturgy and began a film career. He looked at the Acting a means to rebel against the communist regime, in which he lost interest after the fall of the Iron Curtain. Mid-1990, he played in two German television productions of " Anything but murder," with, but was devoted mainly to the music.

In 1996, he realized with his German -born wife Miriam dream to produce a musical. " Krysař " ( " Piper ") was, however, aroused controversy. Many saw it as allusions (named after the bar where the band was formed ), of which, however, he distances himself today on his past as a skinhead during the communist regime and membership in the right band Orlik.

In 2000 he brought his Best of album out and saw his singing career to complete. He wanted to concentrate on rallying, but still stood at Monitor EMI under contract and could not stop.

In 2003 he began the project " Rockquiem " and brought Mozart's Requiem in collaboration with the German composer Stefan Wurz in a modern version. The Latin original language has been retained. Approximately 70 people were involved in the unusual project and there were 12 performances played. In January 2007, the ballet " Amadeus " by Ralf Rossa with music from Landa was " Rockquiem " listed in the Halle Opera House.

Controversies

The skinhead band Orlik had only a brief career with two albums and became violent because of their racist tones, especially towards the Czech Roma criticized. The band denied these allegations and claimed that their music had been misunderstood, they are not racist but patriotic.
