Daniela Schulte (born 30 June 1982 in Berlin ) is a German swimmer and multiple Paralympic champion in the S class 11

Life

Daniela Schulte swam as a child in a sports club. From the age of nine she slowly went blind as a result of a genetic defect. At age 13, she started for the first time in a competition for swimmers with disabilities. Since 1996, she trained with Matthias Ulm, current head coach of the "Berliner swimming teams," the Olympic Training Center Sports Forum Hohenschonhausen and launched in the same year at the Paralympic Games in Atlanta, where she and two gold with the 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x100m medley relay two silver medals in the 200m medley and 100m freestyle won. It followed the 1998 World Championships with 3x gold and 1 silver medal. At the Paralympics in Sydney in 2000, she won a silver medal for the 100m backstroke, before she paused from competitive sports from the end of 2000.

From autumn 2007, she started to train again at Matthias Ulm. She arrived at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games bronze for 100m freestyle and 2009 2x at the European Championships gold, 3x silver, 2 bronze. The World Cup 2010 she decided with 3x 3x gold and bronze, the IBSA World Championships 2011 in Antalya with 4x gold in 200m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 400m freestyle and 200m individual medley. At the European Championships 2011, she swam 1x Gold (5 km open water) and 4x Silver ( 50m freestyle, 400m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 200m individual medley ). At the Paralympics in London in 2012, it reached gold for the 400m freestyle and silver for 200m individual medley. The 2013 World Championships in Canada, she finished with gold for the 400m freestyle and silver for 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 200m individual medley.

In the 27th International German Swimming Championships of Disabled Persons ( IDM), she won seven wins Gold for 800m freestyle (world record 10:57,82 ), 100m backstroke, 50m backstroke (world record 00:36,49 ), 400m individual medley (world record 06:11,71 ), 200m individual medley, 200m backstroke, 200m freestyle and silver for the 400m freestyle.

Daniela Schulte is married to Christian Schulte, since 2003, mother of twins and lives in Berlin.
