Daniell (crater)

28.2

Daniell is an impact crater in the north front of the moon in the field of Lacus Somniorum, northeast of the crater Posidonius. The moon groove system of Rimae Daniell is located north of the secondary crater Daniell D in a northwesterly direction at a distance. The rim is oval and the inside has broken structures.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 by the British chemist and meteorologist John Frederick Daniell.

At some distance to the east of Daniell, north of the small crater Luther, the extensive system of grooves Rimae Daniell between Lacus Somniorum in the north and Mare Serenitatis in the southwest extends.
