Danilo Astori

Danilo Astori Ángel Saragosa ( born April 23, 1940 in Montevideo) is a Uruguayan politician.

He belongs to the Frente Amplio and since 1 March 2010, the elected Vice President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, as well as president of the Asamblea Nacional. In the primaries, the so-called Electoral internas de de Uruguay 2009, he was first presidential candidate, but was defeated José Mujica. Together with Mujica he then won on November 29, 2009, runoff election against Luis Alberto Lacalle and Jorge Larrañaga.

From 1 March 2005 to 18 September 2008, he was also Minister of Economic Affairs.
