Danilo Medina

Danilo Medina Sánchez ( born November 10, 1951 in Arroyo Cano, Bohechio, Dominican Republic) was elected in the presidential election in the Dominican Republic in 2012 in the socially liberal Partido Liberación Dominicana de la (PLD ), President of the Dominican Republic. He follows his party colleague Leonel Fernandez, who was not allowed to be re-elected after two terms. Fernandez 's wife, Margarita Cedeño de Fernández has been deputy to Medina.

Medina received 51.21 percent of votes, on the opponent, former President Hipólito Mejía of the social democratic- populist PRD ( Dominican Revolutionary Party) accounted for 46.95 percent. Mejía was defeated in elections Medina in 2000, he denounced irregularities in the 2012 election on.
