Danis Zaripov

Danis Sinnurowitsch Saripow (Russian Данис Зиннурович Зарипов; born March 26, 1981 in Chelyabinsk) is a Russian professional ice hockey player who plays for HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Kontinental Hockey League since May 2013. His younger brother Marat is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Saripow began his career in the youth teams of Mechel Chelyabinsk HK, for the men's team, he debuted in the 1996/97 season in the league Wysschaja. In the following season he came on ten inserts for Mechel in Wysschaja League, but was also used in the Zvezda Tscherbakul in the fourth division Wtoraja league. In 1998, he decided a change to North America in order to increase his chances of a good result in the NHL Entry Draft in 2000. After a year with the Swift Current Broncos of the Canadian junior Western Hockey League however, he returned to Russia and played for his hometown club in the Super League Mechel. By 2001 he was able to establish within his team and increase its yield point annually. 2001 Saripow was obliged by Ak Bars Kazan, for whom he scored 26 points scorer in the 2002/03 season.

In the season 2003/ 04 Saripow reached Kazan the playoff semi-final in which his team the HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk defeated with 1:3 victories. Two years later came the Ak Bars until the playoff finals, in which he defeated the HK Avangard Omsk 3-0. This Saripow won the first championship of his career and the Ak Bars qualified for the IIHF European Champions Cup in 2007, in which Saripow was elected to the All- Star team and his club won the tournament. In May of the same year the Russian Ak Bars was runner-up, with Saripow in 16 playoff games and scored ten goals so that the top scorer of the playoffs and the overall season was. In addition, he formed together with Alexei Morozov and Sergei Zinoviev the most prolific forward line of Super League.

In the summer of 2008, the Continental Hockey League was formed from the Super League and the Ak Bars won the championship title of the first season of this new league. In addition Saripow was nominated for the KHL All-Star Game, was elected to the All- Star team and awarded as Most Valuable Player of the Main Round. In the following season Kazan could again win the KHL championship, as the team's HK MVD Balaschicha in the playoff finals defeated 4-3 victories.

In May 2013 Saripows contract ran out at Ak Bars, and he left the club after twelve seasons in which he had collected 528 points scorer in 714 games. He was then obliged by Metallurg Magnitogorsk.

Internationally

Saripow played with the Russian national team at the World Championships in the years 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. 2008 and 2009 he was World Champion with Russia, in which he scored seven in eight games points scorer in 2008. In addition, he is since 2006 regularly in tournaments of Euro Hockey Tour used.
