Danish Crown is a global group of companies, meat processing food industry headquartered in Randers, Denmark.

History

The Danish Crown Group traces its origin back to 1887 by 500 farmers in the region, founded in Horsens first Danish pig slaughterhouse cooperative. Another milestone in the company's history was the merger in 1970 was co-operative slaughterhouses to Sydøstjyske Andelsslagterier, the 1986 Tulip merged. Since the merger of Tulip with Wenbo and Østjyske Andelsslagterier in 1990, the company Danish Crown calls. It was followed by the acquisition of all major slaughterhouses in Denmark. 2010 decided that about 9,000 members of the cooperative a change of legal form. Owner of the now operative corporation is functioning as representing the interests of cooperative members Leverandørselskabet AmbA, the legal form of a German GmbH about it. The annual turnover of the Group is around 7.6 billion euros, employs some 23,500 staff, of which the parent company alone 10,500. Every year, 21.8 million pigs processed (including 6.3 million in the United Kingdom, Poland and Sweden) and 600,000 cattle ( half of them in Denmark).

The parent company has 15 slaughter and processing plants for 7 pigs and cattle, 2 Verpackereien for the retail area and 2 distribution centers or fresh meat.

  • Plumrose USA ( 100%): products for the U.S. market, sales of EUR 360 million, 1,400 employees
  • Dat -Schaub (90 %): manufactures sausage casings
  • Scan-Hide ( 75.6 %): processed skins ( over 1 million per year)
  • Sokolow (50 %): slaughter and processing joint venture with the Finnish company HK Scan for the Polish market; 7 factories, 660 million euro turnover, 6,200 employees
  • KLS Ugglarps (100 %): Sweden's second largest slaughterhouse ( pigs, cattle, sheep / lamb), turnover 280 million euros
