Danish Landrace (pig)

The Danish Landrace (Danish: Dansk landrace ) is a breed of pigs from Denmark.

Breeding history

The first herd of Danish Landrace was founded in 1896. The first genetic value were held in 1907. Due to the exceptional performance and quality of the breed Denmark became the world champion in exports for bacon and refused for many years to export purebred Danish Landrace pigs to keep this position. The registration of breeding carried out by the National Committee for Pig Breeding and Production ( Landsudvalget for Svineavl og Production).
