Daniyal Akhmetov

Danial Akhmetov Kenschetajuly ( Kazakh Cyrillic Даниал Кенжетайұлы Ахметов, Kazakh- latin Danial Kenjetayulı Axmetov, in the Russian form of the name Даниал Кенжетаевич Ахметов / Danial Akhmetov Kenschetajewitsch; born June 15, 1954 in Pavlodar ) is a Kazakh politician. From June 2003 to January 2007 he was the prime minister of the country, then to 2009, Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan.

Biography

Akhmetov studied at the Institute for Industry in Pavlodar and a doctorate in economics.

From 1993 to 1997 he was governor of Pavlodar region and from 1999 Deputy Prime Minister under the government Qassym Scho - Mart Toqajew ( Қасым - Жомарт Кемелұлы Тоқаев ) and Imanghali Tasmaghambetow with responsibility for industry, energy, transportation and communication. From 2001 to 2003 he was also again governor of Pavlodar. On June 13, 2003 Kazakh Prime Minister Akhmetov. From this office he resigned on 8 January 2007. His successor, the former Deputy Prime Minister Karim Mässimow was appointed two days later. Mässimow again awarded the post of defense minister to Akhmetov, which he held until 17 June 2009.

Akhmetov was from 2007 to 2009 the chairman of the Kazakh Cycling Federation.

Akhmetov is married and has a son and a daughter.
