Danjiangkou Dam

The Danjiangkou Dam (丹江口 水利 枢纽 工程, Danjiangkou Shuili shuniu Gongcheng, Danjiangkou - key project for hydraulic engineering ') is a 1958 begun and finished in 1974, so-called key project for the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering in Danjiangkou in Hubei Province. The dam is located on the upper reaches of the Han Jiang ( a left tributary of the Yangtze River ) and its largest tributary Dan Jiang (? ). The reservoir has a storage capacity of 29.05 billion cubic meters ( before the increase 20.89 billion m³). The height of the gravity dam is 176.6 meters since 2009 ( before the increase 162 m). In addition to locks, there is also a boat lift with a lifting height of 50 m for vessels up to 450 tons.

The connected hydropower plant has a rated output of 900 MW.

For the South-North water transfer project, the dam between 2005 and 2009 was increased by about 15 meters and the volumetric capacity increased by 11.6 to 29.05 billion cubic meters. 330,000 people were resettled.
