Dara Calleary

Dara Calleary ( born May 5, 1973 in Ballina, County Mayo ) is an Irish politician and since 2007 belongs to the Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish Parliament.

Calleary attended St. Oliver Plunkett 's National School and St Muredach 's College in Ballina. He then studied at Trinity College, Dublin, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Business & Politics.

From 1997 to 2007 was a member of the Fianna Fáil Ard Comhairle, the Board of Fianna Fáil.

In the elections of May 2007, he was elected for Fianna Fáil in the constituency of Mayo in the 30th Dáil Éireann. In February 2008, he was appointed chairman of Ogra Fianna Fáil, the youth organization of the party. This office he held until April 2009 when he was appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce.

He is the son of Seán Calleary and the grandson of Phelim Calleary, both also sat in Dáil Éireann.
