Daraina sportive lemur

The Daraina - Lemur ( Lepilemur milanoii ) is a living primate in Madagascar from the group of lemurs within the lemurs. The species was first described in 2006.

Features

Daraina - lemurs are among the smallest lemurs, they reach a body length 20-23 cm and a tail length of 25 to 27 centimeters. The weight is about 0.6 to 0.8 kilograms. Their fur is white colored gray on the back reddish- brown and the belly. Gray are the limbs, only the top of the thigh is reddish. The hind legs are long as an adaptation to the jumping lifestyle and strong. The head is reddish- brown, while the gray face, causing a mask-like appearance.

Distribution and habitat

Daraina - lemurs inhabit a small area in northeastern Madagascar in the area Daraina. The exact proportions of their range are unclear. They inhabit both deciduous and evergreen forests.

Little is known about their way of life. They are nocturnal and are likely to like all lemurs sleep during the day in tree hollows or in dense vegetation. At night, they go in search of food, where they climb or jump vertically on the trunks. Lemurs eat leaves, fruit, flowers, buds and other plant parts.
