Darband, Tehran
Darband (Persian دربند ) is the name of a district in the north of Tehran.
The former village is located at an altitude of 1700 m in the vicinity of the palace of Sa'dabad and forms the starting point of a popular climbing and hiking trail that leads to the Totschāl. On the way there are a number of lively cafés, restaurants and tea houses ( Tschā'ī - Khāneh or Ghahveh - Khāneh -ye Sonnati ). A 12 km long gondola lift is also available.
In Zahir o Dowleh cemetery of the district are famous Iranian artists such as Iraj Mirza, Mohammad Taghi Bahār, Fourough Farrokhzad, Abolhassan Saba, Ruhollah Khaleghi, Rahi Moayeri and Darvish - Khān.
The climate is pleasant at this level, but with heavy snowfalls in winter.
