Dargin (or Dargwa, proper name дарган мез dargan mez ) is a language that is spoken by about 370,000 people. The speakers, the Dargin (or Dargins ), small minorities live mainly in the autonomous republic of Dagestan in the Russian Federation, also in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan.

Dargin is part of the Lachish - darginischen subgroup within the language group of the Daghestan languages ​​which in turn belong to the ( Northeast Caucasian ) nachisch - Dagestani language family. Most closely related is the Lakische.

Linguistic situation

Dargin the second most common language in Dagestan and in everyday life is well anchored. There is language in school, and there are newspapers, books and radio broadcasts in this language.
