Dark Cabaret

, Also called Dark Cabaret Cabaret Noir, is a collective term for bands that, the aesthetics of decadence, the era of the Weimar Republic, as well as elements of cabaret, burlesque and Vaudeville with the attitude and the style of the Punk, Indie Rock Folk, Metal, Gothic and Deathrock mixed.

In the Dark Cabaret, among other deep chanson voices are used, which are reminiscent of the song Marlene Dietrich, but also cacophonous vocals, which points to the influence of punk. Male voices are also present, then most likely remember on an operetta by Kurt Weill. The singing is usually accompanied by acoustic instruments, especially piano, strings ( such as cello and violin), acoustic guitar and accordion. Influential Dark Cabaret artists are Rozz Williams, The Dresden Dolls and Voltaire.

In 2005, the U.S. label Projekt Records released the compilation Project Presents: A Dark Cabaret, with which it made ​​the name "Dark Cabaret" popular.
