Darling is a town with 10,420 inhabitants ( as of 2011) in the Swartland Municipality, district, West Coast, Western Cape Province in South Africa. It is located at the junction of the R315 and R307 roads, 75 km north of Cape Town on 202 meters altitude.

History

Among the names Groene Kloof ( Afrikaans for " green valley ") was first mentioned in the area now Darling end of the 17th century maps.

The town was founded in 1853 by the construction of a church in the area of ​​farm Langfontein. Darling was named after Sir Charles Henry Darling, the then Deputy Governor of the Cape Colony.
