Dărmănești

Dărmăneşti (Hungarian Dormánfalva ) is a town in the district of Bacau in Romania.

Geographical location

Dărmăneşti located at the junction of the river Uz in the Trotus the east of the Carpathians in a directory named after a neighboring city basin ( Depresiunea Comăneşti ), between the mountains NEMIRA in the south, the east and Berzunt Ciuc in the northwest. The district capital Bacau located about 40 km northeast.

History

Dărmăneşti was first documented in 1590. The place name is to go back to a locator called Darman. 1989 Dărmăneşti was declared a city.

The inhabitants lived a long time mainly of forestry and animal husbandry. Today, trade plays an important role. In the surroundings of crude oil is to a lesser extent. Above the city is the dam Poiana Uzului that serves the potable water storage and power generation.
