Darshan Singh (Sant Mat)

Darshan Singh (* September 14, 1921, † 30 May 1989) was an Indian mystic.

Life

During his fifteen years of active time Darshan Singh stressed the importance of spirituality in modern life. He coined the term " positive mysticism " and encouraged people to carry out their obligations to the family and society and to live at the same time the spiritual aspect of life through inner contemplation and personal development.

Darshan Singh traveled four times to the West: 1978, 1983, 1986 and 1988 Under his leadership, 550 meditation centers were established in more than forty countries. .

His teachings were disseminated through lectures, seminars, books, and especially by his mystical poetry. Darshan Singh, who is known as an Indian poet saint, was honored four times by the Urdu Academy for his poetry. His books have been translated into over fifty languages.

As the Government of India brought out a compendium of mystical literature, the anthology included many works of Darshan Singh. His poems were set to music by various artists, are often broadcast on radio and television.

His successor as head of the organization Science of Spirituality was Rajinder Singh.
