Darżewo, Pomeranian Voivodeship

Darżewo ( German Darsow ) is a village in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship. It is part of Gmina Nowa Wies Lęborska (Town Neuendorf ) in the powiat Leborski.

Geographical location

The village is located in Eastern Pomerania, about 13 km west- southwest of the city Lębork ( Lauenburg in Pommern ) and 28 kilometers south of the city along the Baltic Leba ( Leba ). North of the village, a forested hill, castle hill rising called, on which there is a castle wall from prehistoric times.

History

The first mentions of Darsow in Pomeranian documents of the 14th century use Darsow as place names: In the July 1310 document the Brandenburg Margrave Waldemar and John V. that they raised Stolp to the city and the municipal jurisdiction of the Detbernus Zirchow and his son John of Zirchow have transferred as well as the John of Darsow. 1313 John of Darsow is called as mayor of Stolp. The former manor Darsow was in earlier times a fief of the Stojentin family. 1453 a Jereslaf Stoyentin to Darzowe and 1523 in the muster roll Teslaff Stoientin tho Darsow be mentioned in a document.

1734 Darsow came to the Grumbkow family. The village was then inherited by Friederike von Podewils, born v. Grumbkow. Around the year 1784 there were in Darsow a Vorwerk, three full- farmers, two half farmers, six Kossäten, a schoolmaster, on the field mark the Vorwerk Drzigowa with a Kossäten and a total of twenty households.

Located on the field Mark outworks Schidlitz and heath with a total of five households and the Vorwerk melting were also old Stojentinsche fief. In the 19th century the family Stojentin Shorin and Darsow had in possession. Last owner was Robert of Stojentin and his son Emil von Stojentin. When the latter died in 1912, went out with him the whole Stojentinsche family branch B, and Darsow went over to Leo Robert von Bonin. In 1925 were in Darsow 44 residential buildings. 1939 were counted 89 households and 386 inhabitants.

Before the end of World War II Darsow belonged to the district of Stolp in the administrative region of Pomerania Pomerania. The municipality was 2,110 acres in size. The municipal area there was next to the village Darsow the five residential places Old Schidlitz, forest house and Vorwerk Darsow, Hahnberg, Laaske and New Schidlitz.

Towards the end of World War II Darsow was occupied on March 9, 1945 by the Soviet Army and soon found together with all Pomerania under Polish administration. The estate remained until November 5, 1945 under Soviet military administration. The villagers were expelled by the Poles; The last two families were reported in 1958. Landowner Leo Robert von Bonin spoke with family members until 1957 in the district of Stolp and then went out.

95 expelled from Darsow villagers were later identified in the Federal Republic of Germany and 178 in East Germany.

Darsow was renamed Darżewo. The village has about 260 inhabitants.
