The secret of my family is a four-part German documentary series that aired in 2008 in the First.

In each episode, making each a prominent personality in Germany in search of her family roots. The celebrities are Marie -Luise Marjan, Armin Rohde, Christine Neubauer and Peter Maffay.

The series is based on the produced since 2004 British genealogy documentary series Who Do You Think You Are? ( BBC). There are authorized adaptations of the original in the British Canadian (2007-2008), Australian (since 2008), Ireland (2008-2009), U.S. (2010-2012) and Finland (since 2012) television. In Germany, RTL Living showed 2011-2012 first few episodes of the British (two episodes), and the American edition (17 episodes) of the series, titled On the trail of my ancestors.

The German series was not continued. Also from the broadcast shown on ZDF in 2007 On the trail of my ancestors there were only two episodes ( Mariele Millowitsch and Walter Sittler ). Thus, the produced since 2006 by the WDR series ancestors sought the only German television, in which it comes to the families of celebrities. The counterpart to this is the number of the track of the ancestors - Every family has a secret of the MDR, are in the unknown since 2006 people accompanied in their genealogy.
