Data Documentation Initiative

The Data Documentation Initiative ( DDI ) is a 1995 based project that is developing a same metadata standard. The standard is used worldwide by a number of organizations, for example in Germany by: Institute for the Future of Work, Socio-Economic Panel, CSA - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences Data Service Center operational and organizational data

DDI is a offenener Standard ( metadata model ) for the description of social and economic scientific data. Basic concept of the DDI version 3.X is the description of the complete data life cycle, called the Data Life Cycle, using XML. Version 3.0 was released in 2008.
