Daudi Cwa II of Buganda

Daudi Chwa II, KCMG, KBE ( born August 8, 1896 in Mengo, Uganda, † November 22, 1939 in Kampala ) was from 1897 to 1939 the Kabaka (king) of Buganda in Uganda today.

Daudi Chwa was the son of Mwanga II of Buganda - with interruptions - reigned since 1884. The name of Daudi ( in Luganda, the version of the Biblical name David) he received at his baptism.

After the British Mwanga II had entthronisiert whose only year-old son was proclaimed as the new ruler. However, the actual governmental power lay with the three used by the British ministers Apolo Kagwa, Stanislaus Mugwanya and Zakaria Kizito Kisingiri. On August 5, 1914, he was declared of age and led the official business from now on independently.

After his death, Daudi Chwa was buried in the Kasubi Tombs. His son Edward Mutesa was as Mutesa II new Kabaka.

There is a persistent rumor that he was the illegitimate father of Idi Amin.
