Dave Hole

Dave Hole ( born March 30, 1948 in Heswall, Merseyside; actually David Robert Hole) is an Australian slide guitarist.

Life

Hole moved at the age of four years with his family to Perth. At twelve, he began playing guitar, self-taught, he played on albums by, among others, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. The left-hander retired to a football game to a broken finger, thus it came to the occurrence of an unusual style of guitar playing. He moved to the right-handed game and does not since then as usually from below but from above the fretboard. Since 1974 he toured Australia, to 1990, editor of Guitar Player magazine became aware of him. The report led to a U.S. recording contract with Alligator Records. This was followed by tours of the U.S. and Europe. In 1999, Under the Spell an ARIA Music Award for Best Blues Album.
