Dave Poulin

Dave James Poulin ( born December 17, 1958 in Timmins, Ontario) is a former professional, Canadian ice hockey player ( center ) and coach, between 1982 and 1995 for the Philadelphia Flyers, the Boston Bruins and the Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League played.

Career

Poulin played quite successful for the University of Notre Dame, but was not considered in the NHL Entry Draft. Instead, he moved to Sweden in the second league to Rögle BK. Ted Sator, his coach in Sweden acted also as a scout for the Philadelphia Flyers and still gave him the end of the season in the NHL.

After two games with two goals in the previous year, he played the entire 1983/84 season in the NHL. In a series with Tim Kerr and Brian Propp he came up with 76 points we noted at the time a best performance for a rookie with the Flyers on. However, it was above all his commitment, which soon made ​​him the captain of the Flyers. After seven years in Philadelphia, where he was awarded for his strong defensive performance and his leadership skills with the Frank J. Selke Trophy, there were disagreements with the team and they changed the captain's role. Over the 1989/90 season then parted ways and Poulin moved to Boston.

With the Boston Bruins, he also reached the Stanley Cup Finals once, but was defeated here against the Edmonton Oilers. In 1993 he moved still for two seasons with the Washington Capitals.

After his playing career he coached from 1995 to 2004 the team of the University of Notre Dame in the NCAA.
