Dave Swarbrick

Dave Swarbrick ( born April 5, 1941 in New Malden, London; actually David Swarbrick ) is a British folk fiddler.

Biography

In the 50s Swarbrick first began to learn the piano, but soon saddled over to fiddle. In the 60s he played with Ian Campbell, Martin Carthy and AL Lloyd, until in 1967 his solo debut Rags, Reels & Airs published. In 1969, he then played as a guest musician on Fairport Convention Unhalfbricking, where he was a permanent member in 1970 and remained for nine years. Incidentally Swarbrick continue also worked on solo albums.

In 1979 he returned to Fairport Convention 's back, because the electric music had by now taken care of him for hearing. In the early '80s Swarbrick toured with Simon Nicol, with whom he recorded two LPs: Live at the White Bear was published in 1981, Close to the Wind 1984.

On his 50th birthday organized Swarbrick a concert at the Birmingham Town Hall together with bands and musicians, with whom he had once played together. Parts of the concert came in 1996 under the title Folk on 2 on the market. In the same year the partnership Swarbricks with the ex Roaring Jack Alistair Hulett frontman began. Also in 1996, Swarbrick began with Pete Hawkes cooperate.
