Dave Valentin

Dave Valentin ( born April 29, 1952 in Bronx, New York City ) is an American jazz flautist.

At the age of 9 years got Valentin, whose parents came from Puerto Rico come, playing bongos and congas, and played from the age of 12 in New York's Latin clubs. It was not until the age of 18 he started to learn the flute. His flute teacher, Hubert Laws, advised him due to its attractive approach to the flute that he did not even had to learn saxophone. He studied at the Bronx Community College.

In 1977 he was involved in the first recordings ( with the group of Ricardo Marrero ). The producers Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen built it on the GRP label than in the U.S. popular artist. Valentin has presented more than 15 albums under his own name, which he combines pop music, R & B, Brazilian music and Latin jazz to create a sleek and catchy form of crossover jazz. His two current CDs World On A String (2005) and Come Fly With Me (2006) are published by High Note. He was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award.
