David Christiani

David Christiani ( born December 25, 1610 Pommern in Pomerania, † February 13, 1688 ) was a German Lutheran theologian and mathematician.

Life

David Christiani, who was born on December 25, 1610 in Pommern, attended high school in Kolberg and the Pädagogium Stettin. He then studied at the University of Greifswald, moved in 1631 to the Viadrina in Frankfurt an der Oder and studied from the following year at the University of Rostock. Soon after, he returned to Greifswald to be there for the Doctor of Philosophy. Later he was at the University of Rostock, Marburg and Strasbourg traveling lecturer. After he was general superintendent of the Swedish army, however, raged war unrest, so Christiani his office not yet took 1638 first studied at the University of Basel and then the Aramaic and Syriac language learned at Marburg University. His voice teacher was Menno Hanneken. 1640-1642 -actuated Christiani a journey that took him through Germany, but also by the Netherlands and by England; in the same year in which he arrived back in Germany, he was placed as a professor of mathematics at the University of Marburg. Some professors have fled because of the war after casting, characterized among other things, was the place of the teacher of the Hebrew language to be filled; the decision was made to Christiani. Until 1650, he also became more eloquence and poetry. Professor of mathematics, he was at the University of Giessen, after it has been rebuilt. Shortly thereafter, he was already both Associate Professor of Theology and Doctor. During an oral exam, he formulated the statement, the Evangelical Lutheran Church would be suppressed in Brandenburg, which he was briefly suspended his duties. On February 13, 1688 he passed away.
