David Clinger

David Clinger ( born November 22, 1977 in Los Angeles ) is an American professional road racing cyclist.

David Clinger began his career in 1997 at the U.S. team Comptel Data System. The next year, he joined the Mercury Cycling Team. In his second season where he won the overall classification at the Tour de Toona and a stage of the Tour de Beauce. In 2000 Clinger joined the French GS -I team Festina. In his first year there he won a stage at the Vuelta a Galega and 2001 he won the Spanish -day race Prueba Villafranca de Ordizia for themselves. Then he moved to the U.S. Postal Service, where he was successful the team time trial of the Volta a Catalunya and the First Union Invitational. The next year Clinger went back to America for Prime Alliance Cycling Team. He won a stage of the Tour de Georgia, a stage and the overall classification at the Tour of Connecticut, as well as two sections of the Cascade Classic. He also finished third in the road race in the U.S. Championship. In 2004 he moved to the Italian team Domina Vacanze, 2005 Webcor Builders and 2007 he drove for Rock Racing. In the 2008 season, David Clinger won the Bonsall - San Luis Rey Classic.

In the national championship of Elite 2009 Clinger tested positive for the use of testosterone and modafinil. The American Association locked him then for two years, until 2 September 2011. According to a second positive doping test, he was banned for life in August 2011.
