David Connolly

David Connolly ( born June 6, 1977 in Willesden, England) is an Irish football player who is under contract with FC Portsmouth.

Career

Club teams

Connolly began his career in 1994 at Watford FC. In 1997 only 168 cm Mitterlstürmer moved free transfer in the Eredivisie for Feyenoord Rotterdam, where he was twice awarded the same. 1998 Wolverhampton Wanderers and 1999 Excelsior Rotterdam. 2000 was the Irishman Excelsior Rotterdam back to Feyenoord. After only one year at Feyenoord Rotterdam Connolly moved to FC Wimbledon. There he was active between 2001 and 2003, before West Ham United signed him. In the years 2004 to 2006 Connolly moved three times the club. 2004/ 05 he played one year at Leicester City, 2005/06 at Wigan Athletic. From 2006 to 2009 he played for Sunderland AFC.

As of October 2009 was David Connolly at FC Southampton under contract. In the 2010/11 season he reached with his team's promotion to the Football League Championship. On New Years Eve 2012 Connolly moved to Portsmouth FC and currently playing in Football League Two.

National

From 1996 to 2004 Connolly played in the Irish national team. In 41 international matches, he was able to achieve nine goals. The Irishman took part in the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea, where Ireland failed in the second round to Spain.
