David E. Goldberg

David E. Goldberg ( born 1953 ) is a professor in the Department " Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering" ( IESE ) at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign. He is one of the leading scientist in the field of genetic algorithms. Goldberg is the author of one of the most cited books in the artificial intelligence and computer science in general: Genetic Algorithms in Search, Optimization, and Machine Learning and co-founder of the currently largest conference in the field of Genetic Algorithms: The Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference ( GECCO ). In addition, he is the leader of the most prestigious research laboratories of the area: the Illinois Genetic Algorithms Laboratory ( illigal ).
