David H. Koch

David Hamilton Koch (born 3 May 1940 in Wichita, Kansas) is an American businessman and politician. He had in 2013 - as his brother Charles G. Koch - an estimated fortune of 36 billion dollars, making him the fourth richest man in the U.S. and # 6 of the richest people worldwide.

Life

His father was the entrepreneur Fred C. Koch. Koch has three siblings, of which his elder brother Charles is president of Koch Industries. At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Koch studied chemistry. After his studies he worked for the family business, Koch Industries, whose vice - president, he is present.

In his younger years he was a member of the Libertarian Party. Koch was nominated as vice presidential candidate Ed Clark for the Libertarian Party in the presidential elections in 1980. Clark could only come in fourth place with 921 299 votes and 1.1 per cent share of the vote. In later years, Cook stepped over to the Republicans and is now one of the main financiers of the libertarian - conservative Tea Party movement.

Koch is married to Julia M. Flesher and has three children.
