David Halsey

Henry David Halsey ( born January 27, 1919 in Long Ditton, Surrey; † 16 May 2009 Norwich) was a British Anglican theologian and Bishop of Carlisle.

David Halsey attended King 's College School in Wimbledon and studied at King's College in London. He was educated at Wells on Wells Theological College as a priest. From 1942 to 1945 he worked as a priest in Petersfield in Hampshire. He then took up a post in the Royal Navy Volunteer priests reserve to then to work in Plymouth, Netheravon and Chatham. From 1962 to 1968 he worked in Bromley. The quality of his church work was very much appreciated, and he was promoted to Suffragan Bishop of Tonbridge in 1968. From there he moved to Carlisle, where he was bishop from 1972 to 1989. As Bishop of Carlisle from 1976 onwards he was a member of the House of Lords.

After David Halsey had gone into retirement, he lived in Seaview on the Isle of Wight. David Halsey was married since 1947, and the couple had four daughters.
