David Malament

David B. Malament ( born December 21, 1947) is an American philosopher.

Malament studied mathematics at Columbia College and received his doctorate in philosophy in 1974 at the Rockefeller University. After having held various teaching positions at the University of Chicago, he moved to the post of Distinguished Professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science at the University of California, Irvine.

Mala Apartments focal point are the basic concepts of special and general relativity.

Its probably the most respected individual work deals with the Einstein synchronization. The question is whether this is a pure convention, he thinks he can deny, turning them back leads to the symmetry of the Zeitartigkeit relation. Adolf Grünbaum, whose formulation of conventionality it engages primarily appears unconvinced, even Sahotra Sarkar and John Stachel contradict Malament, whereas, for example Robert Rynasiewicz defends the Malamentsche argument. In 2006, the debate is still ongoing in the literature.
