David-Maurice-Joseph Mathieu de La Redorte

Maurice Mathieu, Joseph Mathieu completely David Maurice de Saint -Maurice de La Redorte ( born February 20, 1768 in Saint- Affrique, Aveyron, † March 1, 1833 in Paris) was a French general of division of infantry.

Life

Mathieu came from a noble family and joined in 1783 befitting as a cadet in the royal army. During the Revolution, he was promoted to aide- de-camp of General; during the First Republic Mathieu served in the Army.

From 1798 he fought in the Napoleonic Wars, including in the war against the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. He was severely wounded and therefore had to leave the army. At the request of Napoleon in 1805 Marshal Charles Pierre François Augereau brought him back again. Between 1806 and 1807 Mathieu served under King Joseph Bonaparte in the Kingdom of Naples. In 1808 he was again stationed in France and in the following year Marshal Michel Ney took him to his staff.

Mathieu served under King Louis XVIII. , But switched back during the reign of the Hundred Days Napoleon.

1819 Mathieu was raised to the peerage no longer wore the addition Comte de La Redorte. After the July Revolution of 1830, he resigned all his military offices, and retired into private life.

On March 1, 1833 Maurice Mathieu died at the age of 65 years in Paris and found his final resting place.
