David McKee

David McKee ( born 1935 in Devon ) is a British children's author and illustrator.

Life

While still a student at Plymouth College of Art and Design, he began to draw cartoons and worked for Punch, Reader 's Digest, and The Times before he became known as a freelance artist and picture book artist.

His first book, Two Can Toucan was published in 1964. His numerous picture books for children, and his book series are successful internationally and are published in over 20 countries. For the BBC, he developed numerous film projects.

The most famous and most successful, created by David McKee figure is Elmar, the plaid elephant. The picture book was published in 1969 in England and was translated into German by Hans Georg Lenzen. Elmar elephant experienced in his adventures again and again how it is to be different - namely multi-colored. Meanwhile, it also exists as a plush figure and patchwork template.
