David Mitchell (comedian)

David Mitchell (born 14 July 1974 in Salisbury ) is a British comedian, actor, radio and television presenter and author. With Robert Webb he is the comedy duo Mitchell and Webb.

Career

David Mitchell studied history at the University of Cambridge. There he was a member from 1995 to 1996 Chairman of the renowned student theater club Footlights, where he met Robert Webb. Together, they created their first comedy program for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

2001 Mitchell and Webb began their first sketch show The Mitchell and Webb situation that aired the TV channel Play UK in six episodes. 2003 Channel 4 beamed the first season of the sitcom Peep Show, which was extremely successful and now is the longest running series of the transmitter. 2010, the eighth and ninth season has been commissioned.

2005 Mitchell and Webb emulated their sketch show and took on the first season of the written by themselves radio series That Mitchell and Webb Sound, which was sent from 2005 to 2009 by BBC Radio 4. The series was as That Mitchell and Webb Look adapted into four series for television. In 2006 she did a live tour under the name The Two Faces of Mitchell and Webb.

Published in 2007 movie The Magician - Nothing but monkey business ( Magicians ), in which Mitchell and Webb play a stage magician duo. In the same year they took on the radio sitcom Daydream Believers, in the Mitchell and Webb played the lead roles.

2009 the duo released the book This Mitchell and Webb Book.

Other projects

In addition to his work with Robert Webb David Mitchell was featured in several television series. In 2007, he played a small role in the film I Could Never ( I Could Never Be Your Woman ). He also worked as a screenwriter for BBC 2 and voice actor on the show Phineas and Ferb.

David Mitchell occurs in various panel shows; among other things, he is a frequent guest on the quiz show QI with Stephen Fry. In 2006, he was next to Johnny Vaughan team captain on the show Best of the Worst, since 2007 alongside Lee Mack in all five seasons of the show Would I Lie to You? . In 2010 he first appeared as a presenter on the television show The Bubble.

Since 2007, Mitchell hosts the radio program The Unbelievable Truth, whose ninth season is scheduled to begin in April 2012.

2011 Mitchell played a minor role in the gambling in Victorian England comedy series The Bleak Old Shop of Stuff, in which Robert Webb played the lead role.

David Mitchell writes a weekly column on various topics in the newspapers The Guardian and The Observer and published the video podcast David Mitchell's Soapbox on the website YouTube.

Mitchell lives - as well as Robert Webb - in Kilburn, north London.

Since November 2012, he is married to the writer and presenter Victoria Coren.
