David Silva (Cape Verdean footballer)

David Mendes da Silva or shortly David Silva ( born October 11, 1986 in Coimbra, Portugal ) is a Cape Verde footballer who plays in the Portuguese first division club SC Olhanense since 2012.

Career

Association

After David Silva started his football career in the youth of the FC Porto, he created in 2005 the leap into the B team. In the season 2005/ 06 completed 19 games and scored three goals for Porto's amateur team. In the summer of 2006, he then joined DG Tourizense, but came in the 2006 /07 only seven league inserts and remained without a goal. In the following season he was able to win a regular place in the team and completed 33 league games in which he scored four goals. In June 2008 he left Tourizense and moved to Bulgaria to locomotive Mezdra, where he signed a three -year contract. In Mezdra however, he was not happy and that is why he moved in January 2009 with his teammate Rui Miguel, with whom he has already played together at GD Tourizense to CSKA Sofia. His league debut, he played on March 7 in a 3-0 away win against Belasiza Petrich, in this match he scored his first goal of the season also equal. Only ten more missions followed, so he and Rui Miguel were awarded in January 2010 to the end of the season in the Spanish third division side CD Castellón. On June 23, both contracts was terminated by mutual consent with CSKA Sofia.

On 1 August 2010 he signed a two - year deal with Scottish club Kilmarnock FC after he was able to convince the trial in pre-season. Rui Miguel also followed him to Scotland. In his first season in Scotland he came up with 29 league games and four goals this season. National

In October 2012 Silva was first nominated for an international match of the Cape Verdean national and indeed for the qualifier to participate in the African Cup in 2013 against Cameroon. Against Cameroon Cape Verde managed the sensation and beat the favorites after return game.

With this victory, he qualified his team to the finals of the Africa Cup and David Silva was nominated for the final squad.
