David Talley

David Prescott Talley ( born September 11, 1950 in Columbus, Georgia, United States) is Auxiliary Bishop of Atlanta.

Life

Originally Baptist, David Talley converted to the Catholic faith. To become a priest before his decision, he worked for ten years as a social worker with abused children.

The Archbishop of Atlanta, Eugene Antonio Marino SSJ, ordained him a priest on June 3, 1989. At the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, he received his doctorate in canon law. After his return to the U.S. he worked, among other vocations in the Church and in the court. In 2001, Pope John Paul II awarded him the title of Pontifical honor prelates. In 2003 he went to the parish ministry. Under his leadership in 2010 was the construction of the new St. John Neumann Church in Lilburn, before he took over the Saint Brigid's parish in Johns Creek in the following year.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on January 3, 2013 titular bishop of Lambaesis and auxiliary bishop in Atlanta. The Archbishop of Atlanta, Wilton Daniel Gregory, donated him on 2 April of the same year the episcopal ordination; Were co-consecrators Luis Rafael Zarama Pasqualetto, Auxiliary Bishop of Atlanta, and Gregory John Hart Mayer, OFM Conv, Bishop of Savannah.
