David Tsimakuridze

Dawit Tschimakuridse (Georgian დავით ციმაკურიძე, Russian Давид Михайлович Цимакуридзе (David Mikhailovich Tschimakuridse ), born March 29, 1925 in Poti, Georgia; † 9 May 2006, Tbilisi ) was a Soviet wrestler Georgian origin and Olympic champion in 1952 in the free style at middleweight.

Career

Dawit Tschimakuridse began as a teenager with the rings. Because of his talent, he was soon delegated to the Sport Club Dinamo Tbilisi, where there was a wrestler center. Later, he also wrestled for " Burewestnik ' " Tbilisi. He focused on the free style and in 1945 it was the first time Soviet champion. An international championships Dawit initially could not attend because the Soviet Union until 1950 the Wrestling World Federation ( FILA ) joined and, apart from 1947 where you took part in the European Championship, without being a member of FILA, the first time in 1952 Ringer to a national championship namely the Olympic Games in Helsinki, seconded.

Dawit Tschimakuridse belonged to the Soviet squad in free style. He wrestled in the middleweight division and has been with four wins Olympic gold medalist.
