David X. Cohen

David X. Cohen (actually David Samuel Cohen, born July 13, 1966 in Long Iceland, New York) is an American screenwriter and film producer.

Life

With the start of the series Futurama, which he developed with Matt Groening, he joined the writers ' union Writers Guild of America. Since there but already a David S. Cohen registered and each name was allowed only once, he had to change his name. The "X" he chose because it sounded in his opinion, more like science fiction and more attention would be excited by the "X".

Before he started working professionally as a writer, he earned a degree in computer science and physics at the University of California at Berkeley, where he made ​​a name with the consideration of the Burnt Pancake sorting problem. However, since he could find no pleasure in it, and he had previously written and drawn like small comics, he opted for the letter. After a year of unemployment, he got a job and wrote some of the first episodes to Beavis and Butt- Head. Later he began to write for The Simpsons.

After five years authorship of The Simpsons Matt Groening he offered to employees on Futurama. There he worked as executive producer and head writer.
