David Zindell
David Zindell ( born November 28, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio) is an American science fiction and fantasy author and graduate mathematician.
Life
David Zindell was born on November 28, 1952 in Toledo ( Ohio). He attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he in 1984 the degree of BA gained in mathematics. He still lives in Boulder.
His first published story was The Dreamer's Sleep in 1984. The following year he won the " Writers of the Future " contest. Another year later, he was nominated for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer.
Zindell tries in his novels, beginning with Neverness to overcome the opposition between materialism and spiritualism. So this partly as a mathematical search act according to the origin of life. In his Valasho epic, a fantasy cycle, he explores the evolution of consciousness.
