Davy Kaye

Davy Kaye MBE ( born March 25, 1916 in London, England; † 4 February 1998 in Paradise Iceland, Bahamas), David Kodeish actually, was a British actor.

Life

Kaye had his theater debut in 1935 at the Mile End Empire in London. During the Second World War, he starred opposite Kenneth Williams, Joyce Grenfell and Spike Milligan for troop entertainment on military bases on. From 1941 he worked at BBC Radio comedy program with. After the war Kaye toured with his own revue program.

In 1953, he appeared as Benny South Street in the original production of Guys and Dolls in London's West End. Between 1954 and 1968 he worked as a staff stand-up comedian at the Embassy Club in London. In the 1960s and 1970s, he appeared in numerous feature films, including two film comedies from the Carry-on ... film series, as well as in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines. In 1975, he starred in four episodes of Rudi Carrells TV show Churning also on German television.

Kaye was a member of the entertainment charity the Grand Order of Water Rats (English: Large Order of water rats) and an award in 1995 for his services to the general public with the British Order of Merit Order of the British Empire. His agent Joe Collins, father of Joan Collins, with whom he collaborated for decades, also worked for Shirley Bassey, The Beatles and Tom Jones.
